Breena Freid
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
About Me
Experience
I graduated from Jane Addams School of Social Work at the University of Illinois at Chicago and I am an Illinois Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Having worked at a child and family service agency for over twenty years, I have had the opportunity to engage with individuals of different cultural backgrounds experiencing diverse struggles. Within my private practice, I continue to work with individuals, families, and couples of all ages and backgrounds.
My approach to therapy is based on my clients' needs and comfort level. I have had training in several evidence-based modalities which include, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotional Focus Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Child-Parent Psychotherapy.
In addition to my clinical experience, I have consulted, lectured, and conducted trainings on topics such as motivational interviewing, child sexual abuse, and parent guidance. Having extended my training to include crisis intervention, I have also been called upon and responded to community-wide trauma-related events. By incorporating an understanding of these particular issues, into my clinical practice, I make my approach to therapy comprehensive and unique.
